Promotion

Tim and I are so very excited. Tim got a promotion at work. He is now head of the internal estimation department. He does the estimating for all the dealership cars that come into the shop.

This is a huge blessing for our family.

Happy Holidays everyone!

News to me

I know I am writing this post while upset, so I will end up hurting some feelings, but at the moment, I really don't care.

First, I am not the only one who did not know there was a rotation. I would think that if there was a rotation for the Christmas party, everyone would know about it.

Also, I thought that everyone would be excited about a craft white elephant exchange since most of the family blogs I read are about the crafts that someone is working on.

So, fine. Y'all do your own thing. Whatever

Next Years Family Christmas Party

Tim and I have put ourselves in charge of the Christmas Party next year.

You will of course get more information come October or Novemeber, but we wanted you to be prepared.

Next Christmas our white elephant exchange will be slightly different.

The kids will have their own goody bags to keep them occupied while the adults have the exchange, so parents, you do not need to bring a white elephant for your kids. (this was a great idea that Heidi came up with this year. If you find cute little stuff you would like to add to the goodie bags, you are more than welcome to bring them!)

It is good that the kids won't be participating in the white elephant exchange becuase the gifts have to be homemade or homebaked!

We do this in relief society every year and it is always amazing stuff.

So, you all have a whole year to decide, and make, your white elephant gift for next year!

Headless Chicken

This week I feel like a chicken with my head cut off. I am so behind on all the things I need to get done. I am just going non stop. I have left work earlier than usual every day this week, which means that I didn't get half the stuff done that I needed to.

Monday and Tuesday my mom was babysitting Erna's girls so on Monday I went over after work to visit. On Tuesday, they came over to my house to visit. I loved it. I don't get to see or visit with my mom nearly enough because our schedules are almost completely opposite. If I am at work, she is home. When I am home, she is at work.

Wednesday I had to leave right after the students because I was going visiting teaching and I was the one who had to give the message. I didn't feel quite prepared enough, so I wanted some time to relax amd get the spirit of the message before going to visit my sisters.

So today and tomorrow I will end up staying late at work just to get things done.

I am soooo looking forward to my winter break. I really need it!

Alive and Kickin

I don't get to post very often. It is rare that I am able to get online. We don't have a computer or internet at home so the only time I am on is when we are at Kate's or my mom's. Every now and then I can ge ton at work, after hours, before I leave for the day. That is what I am doing now. Sitting at a horribly messy desk, posting instead of working. But that is okay, I was suppose to stop working an hour ago. I get to go home at 3:30 but usually end up staying until 4:30-5:00.

Our weekend will be very busy. Tomorrow morning we have to take Tillie to the vet for a follow up. I had to take her in last Saturday because she was sick. She ended up on two different antibiotics and some other meds to help her inflamed intestine. I swear, that dog is always sick! She is feeling better now though.

Then at 2:00 we are going to our nephews birthday party, which means that either tonight or tomorrow after the vet, we have to go birthday shopping.

At 6:00 we have a party to go to for some friends of ours. I am excited about that. Tim when to school with everyone and I love seeing him when he is with them. It is a ton of fun.

Sunday night we are having dinner at Kate's for Tammy's birthday (Tim's mom).

I guess I better head home. I have to let the dogs out, figure out what to make for dinner, and do some laundry. Don't worry, I will throw some tv watching in there somewhere!

Its about time...

Here are a few photos. They take forever to load. I have a ton more on my facebook page. I will try to add more another time.

Wedding Photos

I will be picking up the wedding photos on Monday night. I will try and get them up Tuesday or Wednesday.

I want to see them as much as y'all do!

Married life is great. It was the best decision I have ever made. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Life has settled down quite a bit. With the wedding planning over, parent teacher conferences over, report cards done and sent home, and illness gone, I am almost bored!

Not really, I am still staying busy but I can actually sit down and the end of the day and relax. Its great.

The day after Tim and I got home from Vegas, I got really sick. It started out as a sore throat that I thought was allergies. I had a dr. appointment that day for something unrelated and mentioned it to her, but she was just as unconcerned about it as I was. She checked my throat and all was fine. That night I was up all night with a fever and body chills. Tim was a sweet heart and was up with me getting me water and cold cloths. Poor guy had to go to work after only 3 or 4 hours sleep while I stayed home from work and slept all day.

I am finally feeling better. Still have a little cough but even that gets better each day.

Frustration

I am so completely frustrated with work. So this post will be a venting session. Another day I will post about being married! That, I am loving. Work, not so much.

Right now alot of teachers and staff are so negative. My second grade team included. With the voting that went on yesterday some things did not pass. which means less money for schools and next year, no art, pe, music, and library. No one is happy.

I don't want to hear it. It puts me in a horrible mood and makes me not want to be at work. I almost didnt eat with the other teachers because I knew that would be all they were talking about. I ate with them anyway, but forced myself not to get upset by what they were all saying.

I love teaching, I love Christmas and Summer break. Work will get harder with no prep time but it sure beats working every day with no summer break.

I just dont want to hear the negativity.

Okay, my vent session is over.
Thanks for listening.

Two Weeks

In two short weeks, I will be Mrs. Thurell. I am thrilled. It can't come soon enough!

I have been so busy. Work is keeping me very occupied. I am loving second grade. I have a VERY high group of kids, which also makes them very chatty. But I love all the things I am able to do with them that I wouldn't have been able to do in Kindergarten.

I was just thinking today that I picked a very interesting time to get married! Right smack in the middle of report cards and parent teacher conferences. I had to move PT conferences up a week since I will be in Vegas that week. That means I have to have report cards done a week early. Thankfully, all the parents don't mind doing it early.

The wedding stuff if coming along, thanks to my mom. She really is the best! She is doing so much, I feel bad putting it all on her.

She is doing the cake, flower girl dresses, table cloths, altering Erna's dress, making Ibis' dress, and all the other little things I can't think of right now.

I went over to Erna's last night and did the trial run for my hair and makeup. It turned out great.

Right now I am at Kate's. We just finished putting together the centerpieces. They are beautiful.

Oh, and anyone who wants pics....

You can take pictures when you see them at the wedding!!!! haha. NO SNEAK PEAKS!!!!

:)

Faith - Hope - Love

Saturday night Tim and I went to Claim Jumper for dinner. After dinner we went to Rio Vista Park and walked around and talked. We sat on a bench and visited, watching the people going by. We are such people watchers!

After a while Tim pulled out a ring and asked me to marry him. I, of course, said yes.

Here is a picture of the ring
It says Faith Hope Love. 1 Corinthians 13:13
Engraved on the inside of the ring is "For Time and All Eternity 10/16/2010"
Tim is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. We can not thank Aunt Becky and Uncle Keith enough for introducing us. We are excited to be sealed in the temple for time and eternity. October 16th cant come soon enough.

Special Ops Mission

Special Ops Mission is a tv show on the Military Channel. Kyle hooked me on it and now I have hooked Tim on it. In the show, a Special Ops guy takes on impossible missions. One guy against four bad guys. These missions are live training simulations. No script. Sometimes he makes it out alive and completes his mission, sometimes he is killed in action.

Tim and I watched an episode last night, so when he text me this morning, I was reminded of this show.

My Mission: Locate and destroy enemy spider.

(Tim is deathly afraid of spiders. No matter how big or how small, he will avoid them at all costs. If ever there is a spider around, it is my duty to kill the spider.)

I got a text this morning. "... giant brown spider in bedroom... can't find it... keep your eyes open for it... will call office to come bug spray... freakin' out"

Description of Enemy: Freakin' Huge. Brown. Larger than a Quarter.
Plan of Attack: Start in Bathroom where Spider was first seen. Make my way to the bedroom where it ran off to.

I got to Tim's apartment and gathered my supplies.
(flashlight and frying pan. I decided that a frying
pan was better than a shoe because it has a larger
circumference for killing the spider)

I first cleared the bathroom. No "freakin' huge" sipder there.

Next I went into the bedroom. I pressed a towel against the bathroom door so the enemy would be unable to retreat back to the bathroom.

I searched high and low and was unable to find the spider. I took a break and let the dogs out for a while. Once the dogs were back in their kennels I headed back into enemy terratory.

My New Plan: Clean the bedroom and hope to come across the enemy Spider.

I start hanging clothes in the closet. I sa what looked like some sort of taser (later learned that it was part of a toy) on the floor. Tim's shoe was on top of it so I moved Tim's shoe and out runs the SPIDER!

I won't lie. I jumped about a foot. The spider ran next to the laundry basket. The space was too small to fit my weapon of choice (the frying pan) so I ran and got some windex and hairspray.

(my final list of supplies)
Plan: Spray the spider with hairspray then with windex

I spray the hairspray and the spider runs behind the basket. Apparently hairspray doesnt work on spiders like it does with flies and mosquitoes. I toss the basket to the side and the spider comes running at me!!!!

I'll admit. I squealed like a girl. But I AM a girl, so it's okay. Luckily I can multi task so as I am squealing I am also grabbing the frying pan. First shot - miss, spider still headed my way. Second shot - miss. Holy cow! A freaking huge pan, how in the heck can I miss! Third shot - on target. I then drop the pan and grab the windex and spray the spider a couple of times.

(The spider was finally exterminated in the closet door)

(The spider was the size of a penny. When alive, it was probably the size of a quarter)
Misson: Locate Enemy Spider - Accomplished. Destroy Enemy Spider - Completed Successfully.

Fathers Day Weekend

Friday night Tim and I rented When In Rome. It was a pretty cute movie.

Saturday Tim went to play paintball with all the guys. So I spent the morning running errands. I got to Tims apartment at 1:30 and Tim got home at 3:30. Tims lease is up next month so I went with him to look at a new apartment. That took quite awhile. He found an apartment that will work for his projector and screen. The apartment is in the same area that he is in now. Just across the street. He will move in July 19th.

Sunday Tim went with me to my ward and we gave my dad his fathers day gift. We got him the new Glenn Beck book. That afternoon we went to Tims sisters house for a bbq with all of his family. It was tons of fun.

Memorial Day Weekend

Being off for the summer I usually always forget that it is memorial day weekend, a three day weekend. But I didn't forget this year, cuz Tim had monday off, so it really did feel like a holiday weekend.

Friday Tim had to help someone move and Saturday helped someone else move. He didn't get done on Saturday until 5 o'clock.

Saturday Tim and I went grocery shopping. What fun, I know. But really it isn't bad. I enjoy shopping with Tim. We are both relaxed shoppers. We walk real slow through the store. It always takes us forever to get through walmart. We find it very relaxing and hate when we have to hurry.

Sunday - church

Monday I went with Tim's sister Kate visiting teaching to one of her ladies. Kates partner Cara (Tim's other sister) had to work so Kate asked if I would stand in. It was fun, I was glad I was able to help. After visiting teaching Tim and I went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond and looked at some stuff but didn't buy anything.

Monday evening we had a Memorial Day/Tim's Dad's Birthday BBQ at Kates. Mmmmmm, such good food. I ate so much I didn't have room for cake and icecream. I had a hamburger, hotdog, potato salad, chips, olives, and fruit. And then if that wasn't enough, I helped Tim with his potato salad and then got some more of my own potato salad. Holy cow, I ate alot. Sometimes I go through these spirts where I can eat a horse and other times were I hardly eat the food on my plate.

All in all it was a fun weekend.

UPDATE: Tillie is doing extremely well after surgery. It is hard to contain her energy. She is a very active dog that doesn't quite understand why she cant run around, jump around, and tackle Titus. Just one more week and she will be off restriction!

Vet

I had to take Tillie to the vet this morning. She is getting spayed today. Tillie hates the vet. She will start shivering the minute we are at the vet. When she is getting her shots she cowards against me. She absolutely hates it. So it broke my heart that I had to take and leave her there today. Luckily the petnurse that took her back was a nurse that Titus had earlier and she is super great with the puppies.

The vet called at noon and said that the surgery went well and that I can pick up Tillie at 3:30. 2 hours later they called back and said that their ear swab came back and Tillie has an ear infection. When we take the dogs in to get spay or neutered they also give them a full exam. It is part of the wellness plan we signed up for. That is how they found out she has an ear infection. That might explain why Tillie has been a bit clingy.

The vet is sending home meds for her ears. But our trip to the vet today went from costing $25 to costing $100.

Tillie is home now and doing well. She is pretty miserable but should be almost back to normal tomorrow. The hard part will be containing her energy for the next 10 days

First Day of Summer Break

So what did I do the first day of my summer break? I cleaned. I know, try to hold on to your excitement, I could hardly stand it myself!

Yep, dishes, vacuum, sweeping, what a great way to start my break!!!!!

I hope everyone can read the sarcasm in this post! No, really, it wasn't so bad. Today, I think I will conquer the bathroom.

Schools Out...

...For Summer! My year from Hades is finally over. What a relief, for a while there I didn't think I would make it through. So what's on the agenda for the summer you ask? Oh, a trip here, a trip there, a plan here a plan there. I think it will be a busy summer I will try to post as often as I can.

Monday, April 19, 2010

I know there are large gaps between my posts, but it is rare that I am at a computer long enough to type one out. I will be getting Tim a Ipad for his birthday in June, so we should have internet then, maybe I can start posting more.

I am staying busy. Which is good. It makes the time fly by. Work is hard. My class is a monster. I have a meeting with the worst kid's parent this morning. She is trying to get him back in school. We will see what happens.

I am planning a trip to Utah in June. Probably the weekend on Tim's birthday. We will go see the Manti pageant and make a stop in St. George so I can visit a store there.

I have this coming friday off of work. I told Tim it would be fun to drive up to Flag for the day. Any suggestions as to what we should do there?

weekend review

Friday Night - Went to the Easter Pageant with Tim and his family. Had a great time. It had been too long since I last went. I thinking it was about 8 to 10 years.

Saturday - Watched conference. Went to dinner with friends while Tim was at the priesthood session. Took dinner to John and Linda after the priesthood session. John had to have his leg amputated last month. He is doing great and says he hasn't felt this good in a long time. Rented The Princess and the Frog - fell asleep halfway through. I cant seem to stay awake during movies anymore.

Sunday - Watched conference. Went to Tim's sisters for Easter dinner. I had lots of fun.

It was a good weekend. I wish I didn't have to go back to work today. How many days left in school??? I am thinking it is something like 34.

Looking Forward

I am counting down the days till the end of the school year.

I am so tired of kindergarten. I feel like I am babysitting. Earlier in the year I went to the principal and told her if there was an opening, I want first or second grade.

There was a second grade opening.

So, next year I will be teaching second grade!

The hard part...

I can't tell the girls I work with yet. I have to wait. So I have this great news and I can't tell anyone at work yet.

I have started cleaning out my work closet. I wish I could tell the girls to come look through my stuff and take what they want.

If you know anyone who wants some stuff for kindergarten let me know.

I won't ever teach kindergarten again. I will teach second grade for a little bit and then, if things go according to plan, be a mom.

Smackdown

WWE was in town yesterday. For those of you who dont know, WWE is World Wrestlinng Entertainment.

Not that I have ever cared about the WWE, but it was very prevelant in my life this weekend.

Let me explain. I had a terror child in my class. For three weeks, on the days he was in school (he wasnt in school alot of the days cuz he was suspended several times) he would have to be physically restrained by those trained to do that.

So I took Thursday off, to get emotionally and physically rested from the hard week with this child. When I got back back on Friday the assistant principal was joking that we should all go watch the WWE to get pointers on how to handle this kid! haha. I told him that if we waited a few years, we might see this kid in the ring!

Then driving to Tim's after church yesterday, I got stuck in the WWE traffic. It took an extra 15 minutes to get there with alot of detours.

The best part - My little puppy, Tillie is trying out of Doggie WWE! There is a riser in Tim's living room. It is about 1 foot high. Tillie will get up on the riser and then jump down and land right on top of Titus. She did this several times. It looks like a wrestler climbing the rings and jumping down on the other guy.

ahhh, the WWE. I can live with out it!

Introducing

Tillie Nora Thurell

Monday, March 22, 2010

Everybody's Question

"Has he asked?" "Do you have the ring" "Is it official"

This is what I hear all the time. Tim gets it worse than me. "When are you going to ask" "Ask her already" "What are you waiting for"

Tim will ask me when he is ready. He has been out of work for over a month now. No way will he ask me while he is jobless, thats not the kind of man he is.

So to answer all the questions - no, he has not asked me to marry him yet. Yes, we will get married. Tim will ask on his own time, not through the pressure of everyone else.

We love that everyone is so curious and wants the best for us. We will let you know when we are engaged. Believe me - I will be shouting it from the rooftops!!!!

Midnight Ravioli

Saturday evening Tim and I went to the PBR in Glendale. It was fun. Not as fun as Vegas but still a good time. We will definitely go back to Vegas for the finals in October. After the event we went home and made ravioli. We got the recipe from Giada on Food Network. We made it before and it is amazing. So last night at 10 o'clock we made some ravioli. We put most of it away to cook up today. But last night we cooked some up to enjoy the fruits of our labor. So at Midnight we enjoyed some wonderful ravioli!

Elder

Tim was ordained an elder yesterday. Words cannot express how proud I am of him. I am so completely in love with this man and now he will be able to take me to the temple to be sealed for time and all eternity.

1:30AM Text

Every night when I get home from Tims I text him Good Night. That way he knows I made it home safe. He knows I drive home tired and he gets worried.

Well, he just started taking a new medication for his headaches that make him very sleepy. 15 minutes after he takes it he is asleep.

So last night I got home and didn't text Tim. He had taken his medication so I knew he would be asleep.

Not the best idea. I got a text from Tim and 1:30 in the morning asking if I made it home. Ooopps. Better text Tim even if I know he is asleep. He just might wake up in the middle of the night and worry.

Sorry Tim, won't happen again. :)

Weekend Review

I had major allergies on Thursday and lost my voice. My throat hurt so bad Thursday night. When Tim asked me what we were doing for dinner I told him I need soup. (I hate soup, so the fact that I wanted some should tell you how bad my throat hurt) I woke up Friday morning and got ready for work. By the time I was ready I used up all my energy. I told Tim I was calling in sick and he could leave Titus with me. (Tim usually takes Titus to work). I called in a sub and went back to bed. I only got up to let Titus out of the kennel to stretch his legs and take a potty break. Then I would put him back in his kennel and go back to bed.

By the time Tim got home from work I was feeling a little better but still didnt want to go out so Tim made pasta for dinner.

Saturday, Tim and I both slept the day away, not leaving the house until 1:30. We went to Carambas with Cara for lunch and then went home and played with Titus. We grilled steak for dinner. Mmmmmm it was good.

We found out Saturday night that my phone was not working so I spent a good 30 minutes on the phone with customer care trying to get it worked out. I only ended up mad. The phone was working Sunday morning, I still have no idea why it wasn't working.

Sunday night Kate and her family came over for dinner and a movie. Cara made amazing Calzones and we watched Loves Unending Legacy.

A good weekend overall. Way too short though. Even with my not working Friday.

Sorry its been a while

It seems like forever since my last post. I am just never in a place where I can blog.

I wake up at 5:45 and get ready for work, I leave at 7:00. After work I head straight over to Tims. I take a nap, wash dishes, watch tv... until Tim gets home at around 6:30. Then we either make dinner or go buy dinner. I head home around 10:30 and go straight to bed and start all over in the morning.

So as you can see I have no time to get on the computer. Tim doesnt have internet at his house, so the only time I really get on the computer is if I have a few extra minutes in the morning or on Sunday morning.

So here it is Sunday morning, I am in the middle of getting ready for Church and thought it was a great time to catch you up on my life.

I am not engaged yet, I will tell you that it is coming. The big surprise is when it will happen. My mom thought Tim would wait until he had a stable job. (You see, Tim might be going back to school in August) But Tim has assured me that he wont wait that long.

Last Saturday I went to the Arizona Bridal Show with all my sisters (Erna, Ibis, Kate, Cara, and Jodi) it was a blast. I found the dress I want. It was just so much fun to have a girls day. After the show we went and got Pedicures and then Kate, Cara, Jodi, and I met up with the rest of the family and went to PoPos for dinner.

Can I just say that I am having a lot of fun looking at wedding stuff. The actual marriage part is what I am looking forward to most, of course, but it is still fin to plan a party!!!

6 Months

It has been exactly six months since I met Tim. What a blessing he has been in my life.

I was talking with Tim New Years Morning (2:00am) and was asking him what was the best thing that happened in 2009.

His response, "you" What an amazing man he is. Coming in a close second was being ordained a priest.

The best thing that happened to me in 2009, Tim.

We both agree that Keith and Becky are one of the best things that happened to us. Without them we would never have met.

So what are we looking forward to in 2010?

Tim didn't have an answer. I am betting that it may be being ordained an Elder. I know I am excited for that.

I am most looking forward to spending the year with Tim.
