IRA Conference

I just finished an IRA conference today

IRA stands for International Reading Association.

I was invited to go by a co-worker about two months ago. It is very expensive and the district was paying for it so I decided I would go.

I am so happy I decided to go.

I have learned so much from just the three days I was there - and we only went to morning classes.

I have so much information in my head right now I need to organize it all so I don't forget anything! So I will be posting about what I learned in my teacher blog - check it out if you want to. Just click on my profile picture and you can get to it from there.

IRA does conferences all across the country (and sometimes outside the country) 2010 there is a World conference in New Zealand!!!

Anyway

I was talking to my co-worker and telling her that it would be fun to go to one of these conferences in another state - In November there is a conference in New Orleans.

Well - this co-worker is the one who handles all the title one money for our school.

She said that she would try and budget the money so we can go to New Orleans. The money would pay for the conference and hotel and flight and food - all of it!!!

It would be awesome to go. I am not going to get my hopes up too much. But the thought of it is cool. It would definetly be a way to travel!!!

New Chair

So in my last post I said that I wanted to get rid of my dresser and get a nice comfy chair.

WELL - I GOT ONE!!!!

I got on craigslist - which I never use - and decided to just take a look.

Right there - fifth on the list was a chair - FOR FREE!!!!

It was a nice chair from Robb and Stucky!

I called the guy to see if he still had it. HE DID! He wouldn't be home until after 7:00 and Mom being as amazing as she is took me in her truck to pick it up from Desert Ridge.

We got there - he put it in the back and we were on our way home - I LIKE FREE STUFF!!!

I am going to reupholster it over spring break to match my bedroom decor - which is brown and green and lots of strips!
