Heroes

Have you ever seen the tv show Heroes? I love that show. All the characters in the show have super powers. One can fly, another can heal super fast so she doesn't die. Right now my favorite character is the one that can freeze time and travel through time. The reason being - I WISH I COULD DO THAT!!!!

I have so much I need to do and the timer just went off - I AM OUT OF TIME!

I don't feel ready for monday but it is fast approaching. I refuse to go into work this weekend. So I guess what I have done is enough. I have everything I need to get through my day on Monday but I feel so unprepared! Oh well.

The one thing I am good at is not letting stuff bother me. If it is something that I can't fix, I don't worry about it. I was a trait I had to learn but it has come in handy. Just ask Kyle about the time I was in Mexico on a Saturday and my credit card info was stolen in Phoenix!

Oh Well! (I guess that is my favorite saying) Like Sully on Third Watch always saying "Crap!" You will hear me say often "Oh Well"

Back to School

Well, Its like I never left. I started work on Tuesday. I went into the classroom last week to start putting things up but I am now officially getting paid. I didn't go in on Monday. One, I didn't feel good, and two, It was my last day of summer vacation so I stayed home.

Tomorrow is Meet the Teacher. As always I feel unprepared. I know it will be fine. I already had one student and mother come in today because they can't come tomorrow. And I had another parent call me on the phone becuase she can't come.

I learned last year that you can't really judge the kids you see at meet the teacher. They are nothing like that first meeting. Last year I thought I was going to have my hands full with one boy but he turned out to be my best student.

The mother that called me today had alot of concerns about her child. I am glad she called. Her son (my student) has ITP. It is a blood disorder. He bruises very easily and his blood does not clot. So if he falls he has to go to the nurse becuase he could be bleeding internally. He can't play on the equipment. He is alound to play but he can't climb on things. The mom told me if he gets a bloody nose I have to send him to the nurse. His bloody nose could last for 45 minutes. He has been to the hospital before because his bloody nose has lasted several hours.

Not only does he have this blood condition but he also has asthma, and food and med allergies. He will have an epi pen in the nurses office.

The mom is really nervous but I think after I talked to her she felt a little better. I let her know my niece has severe food allergies and that before I was teaching I was the aid to a little boy who would be in big trouble if he fell or got bumped to hard.

It will definetly be an interesting year.

Oh, FYI I had someone ask me about my student from last school who had the brain tumor. Good news - he is in remission. What a relief! He didn't even have to have surgery. I haven't talked to the family since May so I hope that it is still good news.
