The Best Night Ever

My Birthday is today!!!!!!!! Quite honestly I was not looking forward to it. I have never been bothered by my birthday. It has always been just another day for me. But this year I felt old. I can't believe I am 25 years old. A quarter of a century old! That is what kept running through my mind all week.

Well this year I decided to take charge of my birthday. It is a tradition in our house to go to a movie and out to eat for a birthday. Which is nice but we do it all the time, even when it is not a birthday, and so it is not quite as special.

I went to a birthday party for a friend several weeks ago and had a lot of fun. That is when i decided I needed to do something special for my birthday this year. I thought about it for a while and thought it would be fun to go to a D-Backs game with some friends. This was my first season game this year. (I went to a spring training game with Krystle in March).

So last night was the game. I went with Celena, Wendy, and Debbie. Krystle couldn't come. It was so much fun.

Celena and Wendy

I will tell you right now that I don't have many pictures yet. The batteries in my camera died and so I ounly have three or four pictures. Debbie had her camera and Celena's aunt (who was at the game in different seats) also had her camera. So I will get pictures for them soon.

Our seats were about 15 rows up from the D-Backs bullpen. They were good seats. I have so much fun. We were goofy and silly and just had a blast. Right after we sat down we got back up to go get our nachos.

There are some amazing nachos that you can get at the ballpark. After you have these nachos, no other nacho will satisfy your craving. So my mouth had been watering for these nachos since the last time I had them over a year ago. I was so excited to get these nachos. Celena and I always split them because they are so big. We get the nachos and lemonade. It is a great treat. Anyway, we get up and walk around looking for the nacho stand AND IT IS NOT THERE!!!!!!!!!! They are gone. There are no SUPER nachos anywhere in the ballpark. Talk about upseting! So now I have no idea what I want to eat. I finally settle on a cheesesteak sandwich and some fries. I also had my watermelon lemonade.

Sad to say there was NO flavor in the cheesesteak. None what so ever. I was very bummed. But what happened later in the game completely made up for it.

It was the bottom of the seventh inning and Celena's aunt text her and told her that they moved seats. They were in their seats and a guy was leaving the game. He gave Celena's aunt his ticket and told her she could have his seats. He had four tickets. She and her friend took two seats and Celena and I took the other two. YES we kinda ditched Wendy and Debbie but they were okay with it. They came down to where we were after the game was over.

These seats were incredible. I will have pictures to show you later. We were in section Q row 6. Row 6 was the closest you could get. We were right behind the D-Backs dug out. And I mean right behind. We were propping our feet up on the dugout roof. I could have talked with the players. It was amazing. We took tons of pics I just have to wait to get my copy.

After the game was a fireworks show. I had been telling everyone they were doing it just for my birthday!!! (FYI - they do it every friday) but it is fun to dream. When we get there we find out it is an 80's themed fireworks show. All the songs they played were from the 80's. Talk about a perfect fireworks show.

I had tons of fun. When I got home I opened my bedroom door to find my bedroom clean!!!! Embarrassingly it was a disaster and mom cleaned it for me. She even hung a picture I have had for a while and did something really cute with my jewelry. This isn't all the jewelry just what wasn't in my jewelry box.

What an amazing Birthday and it's not even done yet. Today I am going out to eat with the family at the Olive Garden and tonight we are making nachos (at this point I just need to satisfy my craving even if it is not the real game nachos) and watching movie.

More pictures to come.

One step forward, two steps back

What a day! Just when I think the little ones are finally catching on, they completely lose it.

Today I get an e-mail from the front office asking me to call a parent about her child. For the purposes of this blog we will call her Jane Seymour. (yeah, yeah get past the name and keep reading!) So I have no idea who she is because her last name is different than her daughters. So after I figure out who she is I give her a call. - she is the mother of my trouble maker -

It turns out that my trouble maker stole my little glass frog prince off my desk! I hadn't noticed it was missing yet. I would have noticed but at that point I hadn't.

It looks like this only my frog is green.
I talk to my trouble maker and sent a referral up to the office. It just seems she is getting worse. After getting in trouble for stealing she then cussed out a few students and flipped off another student.
Luckily I have been keeping detailed notes about her behavior. I will have our behavior specialist visit with her and the assistant pricipal and I will talk with her on Monday. I also send a detailed letter to the principal. Now everyone is informed about the situation. I even let the mother know that if her behavior does not get better the pricipal may revoke her open enrollment status.
I have tried everything with this girl and nothing is working so at this point it is just a matter of documentation until it gets so bad that she is kicked out. It really is too bad. She is such a smart girl.

Michael Phelps speaks at our School!!!!!!!

We had early release today at school. All the kids went home at 11:00 and the teachers had meetings the rest of the day. We got an e-mail yesturday with the agenda for the meetings. First on the list was "appearance by a celebrity"

So today at the meeting our Instructional Specialist informs us that Michael Phelps' mother is a principal, that she called her and asked if Michael could come speak to our teachers.

Here is a picture

Okay - so really it is Mike Guffy one of the teachers. It was fun though. This isn't the best picture, but he does kinda look like him - especially if you compare it to when Phelps had his facial hair.
You can't see in this photo but Guffy is wearing ALL of his marathon medals. He had to have been wearing 8-10.
Lots of laughs!

Open enrollment

I have a little girl in my class that spends the day trying my nerves. She is very bright but can't sit still to save her life and thinks that she is suppose to do the exact opposite to anything I ask her to do. she is very deliberate about it just trying to see how far she can go.
I was walking through the teachers lounge this afternoon and the principal asked me how my class is going. I told her it is a good class but I have one trouble maker. SHe asked me if she was open enrollment. SO I went and checked after school and sure enough she is.
Open enrollment is when the student doesn't live in the school boundries. So they get permission to attend the school. The great thing about this is that if you have a trouble maker the principal can revoke their open enrollment and they have to go to a different school.
I am going to work really hard with this little girl but it is nice to know that if nothing works we have a last resort. I just need to take good notes on everything she is doing and keep up my communication with the mother so she is aware of her daughters behavior.

What is This World Coming To?

Today during lunch one of our teachers had her purse stolen. We are told all the time to keep our doors locked when we are out of the room and to have our purse put away but some of us just don't listen. (Myself included) I am going to be extra careful now.
While this teacher was out on her Duty at lunch time someone went into her classroom, took her purse and stole her car! Of course she was pretty upset so her mom came to the school and took her home (after the police had been called and came out to the school) It was at home that she found they had tried to break into her house. from what I heard, they TRIED to break in. They had her keys so I am assuming that she had an alarm on at her house and that it went off. We are all just so shocked at the school. We all feel so violated. Of course the speculations are running amuck. Some think it was a parent. I am beginning to wonder myself. It was someone who can drive and figure out where she lives (she doesn't live near the school, she actually lives not far from Erna). I wish I had a key to my closet so I could lock my purse up, but for now I will just have to hide it really well.
